Bee Gone

An obnoxious drone in a bee hive tries to wrest power from the Queen Bee by scheming with a less-prosperous hive. Donnie Drone  creates chaos  when his underhanded scheme succeeds. Donnie Drone will look familiar. The actions recounted in the parable are recent history. This is a quick, amusing read with wonderful illustrations. All of us should take our responsibility to vote seriously and elections must be fair, not hacked. Go to the polls for ALL elections.

My Thoughts Bee Gone: Political Parable by Connie Corcoran Wilson

A drone bee tries to wreak havoc on the hive and wrestle power from the Queen.  It is apparent just by looking at the cover who the culprit “bee” is, Donnie.

This graphic novel parallels today’s U.S. politics in a humours and entertaining way.  It reminds of the book ‘Whose Boat is This Boat’ by The Staff of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. It is a quick read and reminds us that we need to take our democracy seriously and put some real thought into who we want as a leader.  There is too much at stake, no matter what our political affiliations and beliefs are! I give it 5 stars for the lough out loud moments, illustrations, and message.

I received the ebook for my honest review.

Art Of Being Bill: Many Faces of Awesome by Ezra Croft & Jennifer RaiserArt Of Being Bill: Many Faces of Awesome by Ezra Croft & Jennifer Raiser

Thanks Steve Roth of Race Point Publishing, I am giving away one print copy of ‘The Art Of Being Bill: The Many Faces of Awesome by Ezra Croft & Jennifer Raiser. I also received a copy for review, so be sure to catch my review further down this post.

Description Art Of Being Bill: Many Faces of Awesome by Ezra Croft & Jennifer Raiser

The Art of Being Bill is the first illustrated collection of Bill Murray, highlighting the star like you’ve never seen him before: Bill Murray at The Last Supper, Bill Murray as an Indian god, Bill Murray as a knight, Bill Murray as Superman, and numerous other artistic tributes that will amuse and inspire you.

Are you Murray obsessed? Then what better way to celebrate everything Bill Murray than through art? The Murray Affair, a traveling Bill Murray art show, does just that. Join in the celebration with The Art of Being Bill, a multifarious, colorful collection of over 150 Bill Murray–inspired artworks, many of which are curated from the show. Just like the man himself, the artwork in The Art of Being Bill is both poignant and funny, from paintings and sketches to digital masterpieces, all highlighting Bill in uniquely creative ways.

Featuring artists from all over the world, details about the inspiration for each piece, fun facts from his groundbreaking movies, and a critical appreciation of some of Murray’s landmark roles—spanning his incredible career from Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day to Lost in Translation and The Royal Tenenbaums—this is the ultimate gift book for the film buff, art lover, and Murray addict in your life.

There’s only one Bill. But he’s a million kinds of awesome.

My Thoughts Art Of Being Bill: Many Faces of Awesome by Ezra Croft & Jennifer Raiser

I think the book description does a great job of describing the book so I am just going to give you my thoughts here. This is a fun book for fans of Bill Murray! Besides the variety of artist renderings of Bill, there are movie posters with some information included. For instance, “the co-writer and producer didn’t know if Bill was even going to show up to the shoot of ‘Meatballs’, three days before they were scheduled to start.”

One of my favorite artist’s renderings is ‘The Tao of Murray’ by Frank Harmon which depicts Bill in pajamas and robe, sitting on a chair with a cigarette hang from his mouth and a cloth poster hangs on the wall saying “It Just Doesn’t Matter”. LOL! Now I can’t get the scene from the movie, ‘Meatballs’, where he said that out of my head.

This book is fun filled. There is a fill in the blank at the beginning titles, ‘Fill-In-The-Bill’ by co-author Jennifer RaiserThere is even a maze of Bill Murray’s head titled, ‘Murray Maze’ by Gregg Firestone. ‘The Art of Being Bill’ will make a excellent gift and I have already made of list of people I will be buying it for, for Christmas.

I highly recommend it and give it 5 out of 5 stars!
