Parables Of Sunlight by Margaret DulaneyParables Of Sunlight by Margaret Dulaney

Thanks to Katie Schnack of Smith Publicity, Inc., I am giving away one print copy of ‘The Parables Of Sunlight’ by Margaret Dulaney.

Description Parables Of Sunlight by Margaret Dulaney

The Parables of Sunlight follows Margaret as she adjusts to her new life of farm ownership, and the questionable gift of an abandoned racehorse, whose life hangs in the balance for half a year. At the time, this struggle mirrored others of a similar intensity in Dulaney’s life, such as her mother’s battle with late-stage Alzheimer’s disease. The story illustrates the powerful resilience of hope and offers an antidote for cynicism, countering the temptation to give up. Readers will find resonance with their own battles, and the need for perseverance in the face of despair.

The Parables of Sunlight will appeal to anyone who has ever loved an animal, a patch of land, or a community of loving souls. Imagine if Anne Lamott wrote Charlotte’s Web — that is what this book brings to the table.

About Margaret DulaneyParables Of Sunlight by Margaret Dulaney

Margaret Dulaney is an author, playwright and essayist, and founder of the spoken word website Listenwell.org. Her latest book, The Parables of Sunlight, is about leaving NYC and finding hope in the country. In 2010 Margaret founded the open faith, spoken word website ListenWell.Org. Each month Listen Well posts one ten-minute, professionally recorded essay designed to puzzle out a spiritual theme through story and metaphor. Listeners vary from practicing Buddhists to open-minded Christians, from those struggling to find a working tradition to those who are happy with their practice. Margaret records her writings at Maggie’s Farm recording studios in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Cluck: Book of Happiness for Chicken Lovers by Freya HaanenCluck: Book of Happiness for Chicken Lovers by Freya Haanen

Thanks to Nathan Thomas of Exisle Publishing, I am giving away one print copy of ‘Cluck: Book of Happiness for Chicken Lovers’ by Freya Haanen.

Description Cluck: Book of Happiness for Chicken Lovers by Freya Haanen

Any chicken owner will know that there’s more to these endearing, quirky, clever characters than the eggs they produce. Cluck is a celebration of hens, roosters and chicks, combining high-quality photography with inspirational and amusing quotes to create the perfect gift for chicken fans.

Some of the collection’s quotations come from famous people (Oscar Wilde, C. S. Lewis, Mark Twain, Plutarch), others don’t; some are philosophical, others light-hearted — all are memorable. Accompanied by beautiful pictures of a variety of these farmyard birds, from Plymouth Rocks and Orpingtons to Welsummers and Silkies, this collection of quotes and proverbs will steal any chicken lover’s heart.

My Thoughts Cluck: Book of Happiness for Chicken Lovers by Freya Haanen

You all know by now haw much I love animals.  I have also been known to talk to them.  There is a produce farm Bill and I frequent during the 8 months per year it is open and they also have all kinds of farm animals that I visit.  There are chickens that wonder around the driveway and yes, even cross the road. LOL!  I try to talk them out of doing so, of course.

When Exisle Publishing asked me if I would like a copy of this book for review, I couldn’t say no.  Just look at the chicken on the cover, isn’t she the most beautiful chicken you have ever seen?

I enjoyed most of the quotes in this delightful book but not all due to my beliefs as a vegan.  I enjoyed the photos the most.  They were sourced from Shutterstock and all the photographs look professional.

If I had lots of land and the income for it, I would run a rescue for farm animals, including chickens.  Having this book that I can visit whenever I want is the next best thing for my love of chickens.

4.5/5

I received this book for my honest review

Oink!  Book of Fun for Pig Lovers by Renee HollisOink! Book of Fun for Pig Lovers by Renee Hollis

Thanks to Nathan Thomas of Exisle Publishing, I am giving away one print copy of ‘Oink! A Book of Fun for Pig Lovers by Renee Hollis.

Description Oink! Book of Fun for Pig Lovers by Renee Hollis

Pigs rock! And more and more people — including superstars such as George Clooney and Miley Cyrus — have discovered all the delightful characteristics that make them such endearing pets. Pigs are smart, they can learn tricks, they’re actually incredibly clean, and they’re communicative, social animals.

Oink is a celebration of these wonderful creatures and the perfect gift for anyone who has ever fallen under a pig’s spell! Featuring memorable quotes from people such as Winston Churchill, George Bernard Shaw, John Howard, Shelley Duvall and A.A. Milne, each accompanied by a beautiful photograph, this is a book that’s guaranteed to make you smile.

My Thoughts Oink! Book of Fun for Pig Lovers by Renee Hollis

“Pigs are smart little creatures. They just need love.”- Shelley Duvall

When I was younger, I use to like to walk through the livestock exhibits to say hi to the animals.  I would try to get other kids who made fun of the large pigs, stop.  They would not, they would say things like “they are going to be dinner soon anyway.” Or “but they’re so fat!” Like it was the pigs fault they were over fed to fetch a larger price!  It still makes me furious and saddened to this day!

When Exisle Publishing reached out to me asking if I wanted a copy of ‘Oink” for review, I couldn’t say no. This book respects pigs as they should be respected!  Contrary to what so many people believe, pigs are quite intelligent and make wonderful pets, if you have the room.

I do wish the author would have cautioned readers about getting a pig as a pet.  For one thing, I have heard of many times that pigs have been passed off as pot belly pigs or full grown pig that go on to grow much larger than they were told they would grow.  Take Esther the wonder pig in Ontario, Canada.  She currently weighs about 650 pounds.  By the time her owners (dads) realized how big she was getting, they were already in love with her.  Instead of shirking responsibility, they did a crowd funding and raised funds to build a farm sanctuary, Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary.  They also went vegan!  They are always looking for donations and volunteers to keep the farm going so please consider, if you can.

If you love pigs (not pork) you will love ‘OINK’!  It is packed full of wonderful photos of pigs and quotes.  Being a vegan due to my love of animals, this book is precious to me!  This book would make an excellent gift for pig lovers! 5/5 stars.
