Description of Close Encounters Of The Furred Kind by Tom Cox
Have you ever moved house, over a distance of 350 miles, with four cats? If you haven’t, and are thinking about it, I’ll give you some advice: don’t.
If you really must move, try to get the cats to arrange their own transport. Focus on yourself instead. You’ll have plenty to think about as it is, and the cats will only get in the way with their sarcasm and hairballs. I moved from Norfolk to Devon with four cats and it felt like such an impossible ordeal, part of me believes that I actually died somewhere along the way and am now living in some kind of afterlife: very much like real life, but a little slower moving, and with slightly clearer air. “That’s just the West Country,” I’ve been told, but I can’t be 100% certain.

I loved the humor in just the synopsis! My cats make me laugh every day. Right now it’s getting hot, and I’m sitting on my sunporch but need to head in…One of my cats loves sitting out here with me, but he doesn’t like the heat…so he’s found a place under the loveseat, in the shade, that also has a chair blocking any trace of sun. I can just barely see his feet, but I know he’s here. 🙂 Cats are the best – all animals are!
P.s. I moved about 1000 miles away – TWO TIMES – with these cats…driving them in the car…with all the LOUD hysteric meowing rattling my nerves each way. Then dealing with their adjustment after the move. That is another reason why the synopsis resonated with me. 🙂
What a perfect book to feature on your blog. Your love for animals is so well-known, you could probably write a book on the topic yourself. Thanks for the chance to win.
Thanks for this delightful and special book which warms my heart.
It’s a fun book about cats. Over the years I have had many, many, many cats, each with their own personalities. When I was away at the U. Of T., I had one cat , who knew exactly what day and what time, I would arrive home for the weekend. He would go down our 500 ft. laneway and would wait for me. I would stop the car and he would hop in and sit on the front seat beside me, for the drive to our home. When I was in grade nine, I had an old mother cat, who would follow me down the lane and go on the school bus with me. I was the first on the bus. I would have to walk her down the steps and tell her to go home.
I can tell you have cats and all their baggage.
This sounds wonderful!
