The Connection

Description Connection by Dana Claire

Beatrice Walker thought she lived in a normal world—that is until she learned she’s a living hostel for an alien energy source, and apparently the answer to preventing extinction.

Bea has no memory of her last moments with her mother. The week they’d gone missing is a complete mystery. Suddenly moved back to her hometown with her father, Bea has rekindled her friendship with her two best friends—and seems to have caught the attention of an arrogant, yet gorgeous boy named Cash Kingston. But there’s more to Cash than his annoying attitude and good looks. Cash isn’t human, and he’s now in charge of protecting Bea from those who know what she keeps safe inside her: the energy source that once belonged to his murdered girlfriend.

Tensions mount as Bea learns her energy source must be paired with the one Cash holds to protect both their planets from an imminent threat. But what Bea doesn’t realize is there’s more to her than being human a host, that her feelings for Cash are not just a prophetic plan that will save their planets, and that the fate of everything lies in her choices.

Praise Connection by Dana Claire

“To begin with The Connection is an interesting book to wrap your head around, the opening chapter leaves patches and mystery which I find a good thing, it dragged me in and made me want to figure out why this dystopian time was like what it was.
The main characters name is Beatrice Walker and the story, though not followed from her perspective, is based all around her. After the next couple of chapters, you get the concept of the whole new world and its so bitter sweet and beautifully unusual that you just want to discover more and more about this story.
The made-up memories that are written have so much meaning and you get to experience these moments all over again. Then ending is so amazing, Dana Claire really knows how to leave a reader wanting more.”-John Kerry, Let’s Talk Knowledge

“After the first chapter, I could tell that this book was going to resemble The Lux Series. The lux series is one of my all-time favorites, so I was genuinely interested in seeing where the author takes this story. I’m happy to say that I was not disappointed. I honestly couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
One thing I was not anticipating was the never-ending action. I loved how there was never a dull moment, as our main characters seemed to never catch a break.  Dana Claire has a way of getting under your skin because Beatrice and Cash have made it to my favourite characters list. I can’t wait to see what the author does next! I really hope it’s the sequel to this novel. That cliff-hanger at the end makes me want to read book two as soon as possible.”- Jessica Marie, The Mermaid Reader

“Enthralling and well- crafted story. The author’s descriptions are so vivid you feel as though you are in the book. The plot of the story is suspenseful and hard to predict the next move because right when you think you know what is going to happen the story goes into a different direction. Dana Claire took me on a roller coaster of emotions all the way from the first page. I found myself not being able to stop until I completed the book. The Connection is indeed an outstanding and ingenious read. I eagerly look forward to reading more of her books.”- Chinnie N., Amazon

“Sci-fi fantasy can be challenging, but Author Dana Claire did a fabulous job with this novel. The characters are great. They develop throughout the book in such a powerful way. I love Bea, AND I love her with Cash. The Connection is a book I could not wait to read every day. I loved falling into this story because I thought about the plot even when I wasn’t reading it. A telling sign it’s a great novel!”-Hey It’s Carly Rae

Interview With Dana Claire

TR: Please tell us something about the book that is not in the summary.  (About the book, character you particularly enjoyed writing etc.)

DC: Absolutely. When I first wrote The Connection, I wrote it in Bea’s POV only. Then when I went back to edit, I rewrote it with Cash’s POV as well. Cash is my favorite character to write. He has such a unique perspective. He’s struggling with his purpose and authority as the leader of his group while also battling his internal conflict of loss, betrayal, and fear all while feeling the pressure of saving two worlds.

TR: I always enjoy looking at the names that authors choose to give their characters. Where do you derive the names of your characters?  Are they based on real people you knew or now know in real life? How do you create names for your characters?

DC: I love creating character names. Each story comes from different places. I don’t normally look up names, they just come to me. I think because I don’t have children all of my characters are essentially my babies, each one deserving of the most appropriate name.

TR: How completely do you develop your characters before beginning to write?

DC: I make character outlines. Each character gets a thorough description from personality, to appearance, to their struggles, mannerisms, and personal relationships as well as their objectives and personal growths. I create this for every book I write.

TR: How long did it take you to write ‘The Connection’ from concept to fruition?

DC: I wrote The Connection over the course of several years due to a very busy travel schedule but I wrote its sequel in 8 weeks. It just depends on how life provides me with time. The concept had been in my mind for many years.

TR: What is your favorite scene in the book? Why?

DC: When Cash and Bea go out for a run and literally run into the enemy. It’s the first time Bea she’s how serious their situation is and the first time she shows she cares. And it’s the first time Cash realizes there’s so much he doesn’t know. Both characters are reacting to the same news in different ways.

TR: Tell us about your cover. Did you design it yourself?

DC: My cousin and I designed it together. I’ve been in marketing for 17 years and am very good at giving my design team direction. My cousin is a digital designer with a keen eye and understanding of my vision. I wanted to showcase romance and science fiction plus mystery. I think she nailed it.

TR: Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character from your most recent book?

DC: I would love to have Hero Fiennes Tiffin play Cash. I think he has the perfect bad boy, sassy look with the right amount of “save the world” energy.

TR: What are you currently working on?

DC: I’m working on the third and final book of The Blood-Light Trilogy, The Reprisal. I just finished writing the Awakening, book 2. I’m also working on a retelling of Beauty and the Beast called The Chameleon Curse, a YA fantasy romance. And I’m working on another YA romance called Collide. Lots of books coming out in the next year or so.

TR: What’s inspired you to become a writer?

DC: I’ve always loved books and exceled in English. When I entered college, all my electives were English classes and my advisor suggested I switch to an English major if I ever wanted to graduate. I came home that summer and told my mom I think I want to be an author and she said, “You know I’ve always wanted to do that as well.” So, we decided to write a book together except cancer had other plans and my mother ended up passing before she could live that dream. So, I’m living it for us. And the reason I love fantasy and sci-fi is because anything is possible. There’s no limits for your imagination and no boundaries for dreaming.

Description The Juice by Janet Stilson

When charisma is a superpower, it’s a mind-bending force.

Jarat Ellington was just an exile from Elite society, trying to lead a simple life, when a genius friend dropped an explosive mystery in his lap. The old pal, Thom Tseng, created a priceless chemical substance called the Juice that turns mildly charming people into almost god-like presences, known as Charismites. But the Juice is stolen, and Thom killed.

With the help of a secret organization, Jarat goes on an obsessive quest to uncover the deadly adversary who now controls the Juice. He must fight his intense attraction to a Charismite named Luscious Melada—once a dirt-poor, homely teen who transformed into an extremely magnetic starlet. And he goes up against Petra Cardinale, a powerful, ambitious media executive with a secret agenda.

THE JUICE is at turns an espionage rollercoaster ride and a spellbinding romance. Along the way, it explores the future of America and government control of media.

Don’t miss The Juice, by Janet Stilson. If you love the cyberpunk science fiction of William Gibson; the dystopian world of A Handmaid’s Tale; or sci-fi detective novels, this story is for you. Come check it out.Praise The Juice by Janet Stilson

Wakanda Files by Troy BenjaminWakanda Files by Troy Benjamin

Thanks to Steve Roth of Quarto Publishing Group, I am giving away one print copy of ‘A Mother’s Grace’ by Michelle Moore.

Description Wakanda Files by Troy Benjamin

An in-world book from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Wakanda Files—compiled by request of Shuri (Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War) as part of her quest to improve the future for all people—is a collection of papers, articles, blueprints, and notes amassed throughout history by Wakanda’s War Dogs. In a nod to Wakandan technology, the pages of the book have a printed layer of UV ink with content that is visible only under the accompanying Kimoyo bead–shaped UV light.

Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Wakanda has been on the forefront of what is technologically possible. Their ability to stay ahead of the rest of the world is second only to their ability to keep themselves hidden. As the architect behind many of Wakanda’s great advancements, Shuri is constantly seeking ways to improve what has come before. To aid in her search, she researches the past for context, reference, and inspiration by compiling The Wakanda Files.

Organized into areas of study, including human enhancement, transportation, weapons, artificial intelligence, and more, The Wakanda Files trace the world’s technological achievements from the era of Howard Stark and early Hydra studies to modern discoveries in quantum tunneling and nanotechnology, weaving together the stories, personalities, and technology that are the fabric of the MCU.
