Unable to trust anyone else, Madeline reaches out to Daphne and to the only man she can count on to help: Jack Rayner, a security expert with a profoundly intimate understanding of warped and dangerous minds. Along with his high-tech genius of a brother, the four of them will form an uneasy alliance against a killer who will stop at nothing to hide the truth….

Big Flies by Keith HirshlandBig Flies by Keith Hirshland

In Sierra Nevada, Leland’s father, Chester Daniel David, highly celebrated travel writer dies. Leland becomes heir to the estate.  It is there that Leland comes across disturbing evidence that all the travel stories his father told were not authentic.  Worse, Leland is compelled to solve the mystery of what Chester had really been up to and at the same time, try to solve several related unsolved mysteries.

Some of the unsolved mysteries used in the story are real mysteries that are still unsolved today like the D. B. Cooper plane skyjacking and ransom demand in the Pacific Northwest and the inexplicable vanishing of $1 million from the Chicago First National Bank.

Big Flies is an entertaining search for the truth.  Keith Hirshland uses lots of humor and a well drawn out and colorful cast of characters.  With an intriguing plot and beautiful landscape, Hirshland weaves his tale seamlessly. I don’t read a lot of mysteries but I am so glad I read ‘Big Flies’!  I loved how Hirshland tied in real events to give it a more realistic feel.  I truly didn’t want it to end!  Highly recommended!

I received the ebook for my honest opinion.

Thanks to Amanda Harkness of Meryl Moss Media, I am giving away one print copy of Circle of Trust by Jacqueline Simon Gunn.

Description of Circle of Trust by Jacqueline Simon Gunn

A gruesome murder…
Radio psychologist Jacob Temple is found dead on the floor of his den. A gaping wound in his neck, lacerations crisscrossing his chest, a fork bored into each eye.

No break-in. No evidence.

Bouncing back and forth in time, the story of Jacob Temple’s life unfolds as told by the people closest to him, particularly his ex-girlfriend Jane Light, who has been stalking Jacob for nineteen years, ever since he left her. Still reeling from her boyfriend Noah’s murder, Kadee Carlisle works alongside Detectives Poole and Gibbs to unravel the facts behind Jacob Temple’s life and death. As time ticks away, Kadee struggles to reconcile her conflicted feelings about her own past–and present–and their ominous parallels to the Temple case.

When the circle of trust is broken…
As the hunt for the killer ensues, a tragic love story unfolds, along with a plan for vengeance and an unflinching look into the mind of a murderer. But will they ever figure out who killed Jacob Temple? Piercing the thorny line between facts and deception, passion and obsession, this torrid thriller illustrates one important thing: Sometimes the closer you are to the truth, the harder it is to see.
