Thanks to Steve Roth of The Quarto Group, I am giving away one print copy of Atlas Of Untamed Places by Chris Fitch.

Description Atlas Of Untamed Places by Chris Fitch

‘Atlas of Untamed Places’ is an intrepid journey through nature’s most unusual, wild, feral, and extraordinary places. From historic and protected zones to the uninhabitable and unimaginable islands, caves, and wild lands where nature roams alone.

We also travel to new wildernesses being carved out by nature such as the river bed worlds slowly rising into new lands or Chernobyl which, after being barren for years, has developed into a growing natural habitat, free from human intervention.

My Thoughts Atlas Of Untamed Places by Chris Fitch

I am always attracted to photos and stories of little known and unknown places on earth.  So, when I was offered this book, I jumped.  It did not disappoint.  The photos are spectacular.

The book included 6 sections including;  Extreme Environments, Untouched Lands, Human Activity, Weird Worlds, Isolated Realms, and Nature’s Wilderness.  Each includes maps photos and detailed descriptions.  The photos are spectacular, the maps are easy to follow, and the descriptions further add to the awe of the places.

This is a book to savour rather than devour in one sitting.  It is a book that I will visit again and again.  It has earned a spot on my coffee table for guests to see!  I highly recommend ‘Atlas of Untamed Places’ and think it would especially make an excellent gift for travelers, adventurers, and armchair travelers!

We found this motel on Hotwire.com and have gotten good deals and comfortable, clean Hotel rooms in the past through them.  The disadvantage is that you have to pay when you book and there are no refunds.

That said, when we drove to the motel, we were surprised to see it was a motel and not a hotel.  Hotwire said 2 star hotel.  The gentleman at the front desk who checked us in was quit nice.  He also gave us a room that was farthest from the busy street it was on.  It’s a small place, so we could still hear the traffic.

This is a alleged 2 star hotel, so we weren’t expecting the Ritz.

The walls are paper thin and we could hear everything.  The hot water tap for the sink only was not even lukewarm, it was just as cold as the cold tap.  The wwii fi was so slow,we ended up going to Starbucks to use my laptop and tablet..  The place was gungy looking and you could feel the springs in the mattress.   The entire bed bounced and jiggled when either one of us so much as moved a muscle.  Over all, a poor excuse for a motel.  I would give it no stars if the was an option!

To be fair, I need to say what was good about it.  The price, $50 and the best part about it, leaving!!!!  If we hadn’t pre-booked the room with Hotwire and could have gotten a refund we would have left and found something better, perhaps a real 2 star or 3 star place.

Verdict: Pay more, do not stay there!  Avoid it at all costs!
