Flirting with Fame by Dan HararyFlirting with Fame – A Hollywood Publicist Recalls 50 Years of Celebrity Close Encounters by Dan Harary

Thanks to Peyton Sweeney, I am giving away one print copy of ‘Flirting with Fame’.

Description Flirting with Fame by Dan Harary

Before becoming a publicist to the stars, Hollywood publicist and “Flirting with Fame” author Dan Harary had to break into the entertainment industry. HIs plan for doing so, while unconventional and risky, was successful.

So, what was his plan? Well, it involved selling off most of his stuff and moving across the country.

“I literally did not know where Los Angeles was on a map at that time. I’d never heard of the Hollywood Sign, the stars on the “Walk of Fame,” or any other iconic L.A./Hollywood landmark. I’d never even owned a Beach Boys album. I knew that Columbia Pictures had a studio out there, and that Johnny Carson and Laugh-In were filmed in “beautiful downtown Burbank,” but that was the extent of my knowledge.

In a few quick weeks, I sold off all of my New Jersey posses- sions, excluding my drum set; a coin collection from my grandfa- ther; my used piece-of-shit car; my record albums, stereo, and other small items I owned at the time. The grand total of my stash was $2,000.00. This was more cash than I’d ever seen before in my life,” explained Harary in an excerpt from his book, “Flirting with Fame.”

Once in California, Dan Harary would live on friends’ couches in Venice Beach until he was able to get his foot in the door in the entertainment industry.

“I lived on a couch in Venice Beach for exactly one year, during which time I sent out resumes, made phone calls, and schlepped to virtually every corner of Los Angeles County taking interviews, again, mostly for secretaries in the entertainment industry who knew shorthand.”

Eventually, Dan Harary would get his break. Since his couchsurfing days, Harary has spent 50 years representing Hollywood’s stars. During those years, he has experienced countless exchanges with some of the most well-known and idolized personalities Hollywood has had.

“Flirting with Fame” shares Harary’s experiences and chance encounters with many celebrities, often in unexpected ways.

Praise Flirting with Fame by Dan Harary

“I enjoyed Flirting With Fame because Dan is so open and honest about his encounters with celebrities – some very funny, some odd and some even hard to believe – but all told from an ‘everyman’s’ point of view. He quite often found himself in rather bizarre circumstances while interacting with famous people – like having a staring contest with Barbra Streisand, twice; or smoking a joint in silence with Jill Clayburgh in Central Park; or talking with Billy Crystal about Chinese food at Sid Caesar’s funeral. Dan successfully encapsulates 50 years of ‘celebrity close encounters’ into this book, all while serving as a skillful narrator.”

Vengeance Can Be Deadly by Gary SmithVengeance Can Be Deadly by Gary Smith

Thanks to Helen Cook of Ascot Media Group, I am giving away one print copy of ‘Vengeance Can Be Deadly’.

Description Vengeance Can Be Deadly by Gary Smith

In book five of the Warren Steelgrave series, Warren Steelgrave has settled into a comfortable life in a small village in Northern Italy. Suddenly all that changes. Having just left a dear friend, she is murdered, and he has become the prime suspect.

Warren Steelgrave cared deeply for her and swears to avenge her death and clear his name. Warren untangles a web of deceit, at first benign, then grown malignant by greed and evil. Professional criminals have become involved with international spies and mafia accomplices.

Steelgrave’s sworn vengeance and “willingness” to find justice have put him and his loved ones in grave danger.

Travel down the dark alleyways of intrigue through Italy and the United States. Warren is warned; vengeance can be deadly. Will, there be justice and light at the end of this literary journey, or will the last chapter be Warren’s obituary?

This book can be read without having to read the first four books in the series.

Praise Vengeance Can Be Deadly by Gary Smith

“I have read previous novels in Gary E Smith’s Warren Steelgrave series and Vengeance Can Be Deadly did not disappoint at all. The action started immediately with an incredibly explosive scene. I loved how the plot took many twists and turns; you truly did not know which character was working against Warren. I thought each character was so realistic, even the minor personalities in the novel were memorable, especially the villains – they were the true essence of evil. Warren is a superb hero because he makes no apologies for his flaws but at the same time, he is kind, intelligent, and fiercely protective of those close to him. There is so much thrilling tension throughout especially as Warren takes some pretty dangerous decisions to outwit the criminals. I enjoyed how the plot was layered and the revelations were slowly revealed, especially around who was involved in the murders and who was innocent.”- Lesley Jones, Readers’ Favorite

“Gary E Smith employs a natural style of writing that slowly grows on you and keeps you glued until the explosive end. I was surprised to find out that I had almost finished the book as I was enjoying it so much that the time seemed to have flown by. As the plot unravels, the suspense, action, and danger increase until it reaches a climactic point towards the end. The plot extends beyond vengeance and covers several other themes, including aging and dealing with mortality, family, lovers, spies, crime, friendship, regrets, and more. With the seamless inclusion of things that we deal with on a regular basis, the story feels completely real. In conclusion, Vengeance Can Be Deadly is a fantastic, first-rate option for mystery and suspense enthusiasts.”- Foluso Falaye, Readers’ Favorite

Description Making of Her by Bernadette Jiwa

An unforgettable debut novel about family secrets, falling apart, and coming together.

Dublin 1996. Joan Egan lives an enviable life. She and her husband, Martin, and daughter, Carmel, are thriving in Dublin at the dawn of an economic boom. But everything changes when Joan receives a letter from Emma, the daughter who she and Martin gave up for adoption thirty years before, asking for a life-or-death favor.

While Joan grapples with the guilt over giving up her baby long ago, she must confront her present as the cracks in her marriage become impossible to ignore and simmering tension with Carmel boils over. Meanwhile, Carmel and Emma must come to terms with the perceived sins of their mother, to imagine a future for their family before it is too late.

Spanning the nineties and the sixties, with Dublin as its backdrop, The Making of Her is the tender and page-turning story of marriage, motherhood, a culture that would not allow a woman to find true happiness–and her journey to finally claim it.
