Please leave a comment to let me know you donated food. Thanks!!

The books I read to complete the challenge were:

February 14 – August 14, 2010
Wendy of Caribousmom is hosting the Themed Reading Challenge again in 2010.
The “rules” have changed just a bit from last year. Here they are:
  1. Readers may join at ANY TIME between now and August 14th.
  2. Books should be chosen from the reader’s TBR pile (this may be an actual physical pile or a virtual pile).
  3. The goal is to read AT LEAST 5 books linked by theme.
  4. Overlaps with other challenges are allowed.
  5. Readers may change their list of books OR their theme(s) at any time.

I’m going with level 3, the same theme I used last year.  The three themes I choose are books of historical fiction, that are all written by female authors, and are new to me.

100 Mile Fitness Challenge

January 1 – March 31, 2010
Trish of Trish’s Reading Nook is hosting an exercise challenge called the 100 Mile Fitness Challenge.

Here’s how it works:
In order to complete this Challenge, you will need to “travel” 100 miles from January 1st through March 31st.

Here’s how you calculate your mileage:
*Running or walking 1 mile outside or on a treadmill equals 1 mile.

*15 minutes of other workouts equals 1 mile (elliptical, swimming, weight lifting, workout video, workout classes, etc.).

A few “workout” stipulations:
“Workouts” only include activities specifically done for the purpose of exercise. Shopping, house cleaning, walking to and from the parking lot, and other day to day activities should not be included.

Partial miles travelled on different days cannot be combined. For example, if you run 1.25 miles on one day, and .75 mile on another day, that does not equal 2 miles. It counts as 1 mile.

Minutes accumulated on two different days cannot be combined. For example, if you workout 10 minutes one day and 5 minutes the next day, that does not combine to equal a mile.

1 mile on the bike or elliptical does not equal 1 mile, etc. Only walking/running is mile for mile.

I just bought a bike trainer so that I can ride my bike in the winter months.  It basically makes your bike into a stationary bike.  The one I got is magnetized and has three different levels to make it more challenging, plus your gears still work with it.   I plan to use it for this challenge.  I may do other things as well.

I just bought in last Thursday.  Using the rule that 15 minutes of biking equals one mile, I have gone a total of 3 miles so far.  LOL! Hey, it’s a start!
