VOX by Christina Dalcher
Thanks to Rafa Ashraf of Berkley, I am giving away one print copy of ‘VOX’by Christina Dalcher.
Description VOX by Christina Dalcher
Set in an America where half the population has been silenced, VOX is the harrowing, unforgettable story of what one woman will do to protect herself and her daughter.
On the day the government decrees that women are no longer allowed more than 100 words daily, Dr. Jean McClellan is in denial–this can’t happen here. Not in America. Not to her.
This is just the beginning.
Soon women can no longer hold jobs. Girls are no longer taught to read or write. Females no longer have a voice. Before, the average person spoke sixteen thousand words a day, but now women only have one hundred to make themselves heard.
But this is not the end.
For herself, her daughter, and every woman silenced, Jean will reclaim her voice.
Praise VOX by Christina Dalcher
“Christina Dalcher’s debut novel, set in a recognizable near future and sure to beg comparisons to Margaret Atwood’s dystopian The Handmaid’s Tale, asks: if the number of words you could speak each day was suddenly and severely limited, what would you do to be heard? A novel ripe for the era of #MeToo, VOX (Berkley) presents an exaggerated scenario of women lacking a voice: in the United States, they are subject to a hundred-word limit per day (on average, a human utters about 16,000). Considering the threat of a society in which children like the protagonist’s six-year-old daughter are deprived of language, VOX highlights the urgency of movements like #MeToo, but also of the basic importance of language.”—Vanity Fair
“The females in Dalcher’s electrifying debut are permitted to speak just 100 words a day—and that’s especially difficult for the novel’s protagonist, Jean, a neurolinguist. A futurist thriller that feels uncomfortably plausible.”—O, Oprah Magazine
“In Christina Dalcher’s Vox, women are only allowed to speak 100 words a day. Sounds pretty sci-fi, but the real-life parallels will make you shiver.”—Cosmpolitan

Giveaway VOX by Christina Dalcher
This giveaway is open to the U.S. only and ends on September 7, 2018 midnight pacific time. Entries are accepted via Rafflecopter only.
Fascinating and intriguing novel. I saw a student movie which was well done and similar to this about limiting the amount of words per day.
I’ve been waiting for this book to come out. Great story, can’t wait to read it. Thanks!!
Sounds like an interesting and unique plot (although a little annoying!). Thanks for the giveaway.
I am interested in this book because it has so many great reviews.
I have read some awesome reviews on this book. Will be a best seller for sure and I have it on my RBR list. Thanks for this giveaway. Can hardly wait to get a copy to read!
I have been hearing a lot of buzz and good reviews about this book. Thanks for the chance to win!
I tried to get to your profile on Networked Blogs, and I think your link is broken. I can’t get into that website, so I can’t follow and complete your step in Rafflecopter.
Sorry about that, I forgot to delete that option from the Rafflecopter. Networked Blogs is now defunct. I think I have it deleted from all the giveaways now but if you see anymore, please let me know. Thanks!
The animal and literary links aren’t going through right for me.
I won a galley of this book a while back (I know — what luck!), and I have only read some of it so far…but at this point, it’s definitely an enjoyable, worthwhile read. It seems to be getting a lot of publicity, but I don’t want to raise my expectations too much for an exceptional conclusion. I want the plot to continue its pace, style, and quality of story til the end. These dystopian work isn’t a total standout though — at least not yet. And the thematic content and genre is a crowded one, so that’s no insult…Congrats to whoever wins this contest! Happy reading, Kara S
PS Like other commenters, I couldn’t link to the NetworkedBlogs affiliation pages, but I know I was always a follower before. Also, the animal and literary links can be found through google. Do you need them still, Teddy?

I think I have it deleted from all the giveaways now but if you see anymore, please let me know. Thanks! Is there something wrong with the links I am using to give free pet food and literacy? I have the same links in Rafflecopter that I have had been using for a long time.
I had the same problem today, so I don’t know if they changed their URL recently or what. Here are good links (I found the real sites today and yesterday through a quick google search): https://theliteracysite.greatergood.com/clicktogive/ars/home
— and — https://theliteracysite.greatergood.com/clicktogive/lit/home
These links do work for *both* sites — not just The Literacy Site that appears at the heart of the URL. What I did was visit the Literary Site first, clicked to give, and then I selected animal rescue from the menu of other causes to support that appeared on the page thanking me for clicking to give for literacy. I assume that’s why the main page is literacysite in my browser with animal rescue page’s give site designated with the ars instead of lit at the end of each respective URL. Maybe this installation of the menu making it easy to click for the other causes once you have supported one of the set has changed the URLs…In any case, I hope this helps, Teddy! All the best to you, Kara S

Thanks so much for you assistance Kara! The issue is now fixed thanks to you and Nadine!
I read a review that this book is being compared to Atwood’s The Handmaiden’s Tale so I’m interested.
