Thanks to Brittani Hilles of St. Martin’s Press, I am giving away one print copy of ‘Letters To the Lost’ by Iona Grey.
Description of ‘Letters To the Lost’ by Iona Grey:
A beautifully written and evocative novel—the story of an impossible, unstoppable love affair set in London during World War II and the present day
An accomplished novel from a talented writer, Letters to the Lost is the kind of love story that will sweep you away from the very first page. Iona Grey’s prose is warm, evocative, and immediately engaging; her characters become so real you can’t bear to let them go.
Late on a frozen February evening, a young woman is running through the streets of London. Having fled from her abusive boyfriend and with nowhere to go, Jess stumbles onto a forgotten lane where a small, clearly unlived in old house offers her best chance of shelter for the night. The next morning, a mysterious letter arrives and when she can’t help but open it, she finds herself drawn inexorably into the story of two lovers from another time.
In London 1942, Stella meets Dan, a US airman, quite by accident, but there is no denying the impossible, unstoppable love that draws them together. Dan is a B-17 pilot flying his bomber into Europe from a British airbase; his odds of survival at one in five. The odds are stacked against the pair; the one thing they hold onto is the letters they write to each other. Fate is unkind and they are separated by decades and continents. In the present, Jess becomes determined to find out what happened to them. Her hope—inspired by a love so powerful it spans a lifetime—will lead her to find a startling redemption in her own life in a powerfully moving novel perfect for fans of Sarah Jio and Kate Morton.

The timeframe and the story of the mysterious letter sound fascinating. Thanks for the giveaway.
I love historical fiction, especially stories in and around the world wars and those that go back and forth between the present and the past. I’ve had this one on my wish list for a while, so thank you for the chance to win a copy!
I love historical fiction from both World Wars. The mysterious letter sounds intriguing.

I love the setting.
It seems like there are now an increasing number of novels with plots involving protagonists researching or discovering some story from the past — whether for reasons related to family/personal history or some particular situational context, as in this case — as a vehicle to provide resolution to a conflict or question in that character’s life. I am digging this trend, and I suspect I’d find this a tremendously absorbing story. Thanks Teddy! Cheers, Kara S
When submitting my entries for today (6/24), my clicking and my browser’s loading got out of sync such that I accidentally submitted my date and initials for the proof of comment on another blog post entry instead of for one of the two click to support cause sites. Accordingly, I included the name of the post I commented on today for proof on the leftover cause entry (Literacy, I think) to even things out. Sorry for any confusion — I hope there’s no inconvenience. I would appreciate it if I could be credited for all three entries despite my switched substantiation info. Thanks for your attention to this trifle, Teddy. Cheers, Kara S
No problem Kara, I made sure it was correct in Rafflecopter. Thanks for letting me know!
