Years later, to the ringing bells of freedom, Daniel also leaves the plantations of his past for opportunities in New York and as fate would have it, into the welcoming arms of his former friend.  From the moment Jerry and Daniel are reunited, it is obvious their brotherly bond is still intact. Reflecting upon their childhood camaraderie, Jerry knew that he had loved Daniel even then, but as a child loves a brother. However, Jerry soon realizes that his present feelings for his old playmate exceed those of brotherly love.  And there was one very important thing Jerry had not shared with his soul mate, and that was the secret world of homosexuality to which he now belonged. As the two friends reaffirm their childhood bond, Jerry is torn between overwhelming feelings of attraction and uncertainty. Will Daniel be accepting of his new sexuality? And more importantly, could he ever return his amorous affections?

About Winfred Cook:

Winfred Otto Cook was born into a working class family in St. Louis, Missouri. Following high school, he worked as a hairdresser in New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles. In 1973, Cook opened his first hair salon in San Francisco and soon after began writing his popular weekly column “Ask Winfred” in the San Francisco Sun Reporter.  Over the past thirty years, he has become a successful and influential African American hair stylist, working with a broad and diverse group of clients that has included political activist Angela Davis, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and singer Nancy Wilson.  Winfred Cook started writing for his own pleasure six years ago, and has subsequently written a number of short stories and three novels, including his award-winning debut entitled, Uncle Otto.  Winfred Cook currently lives in Oakland, California.  For more information, please visit www.winfredcook.com.
