For October, Mailbox Monday will be hosted at the Mailbox Monday blog.
I’ve been very busy enjoying the Vancouver International Film Festival but had a short break today to post the books I received last week.
As some of my long time followers know, I love T. C. Boyle, so when I saw it on Net Galley, I had to request it.
I received this unsolicited and am not into sports at all. I will find a good home for this book though.
I received this book unsolicited as well. I am very tired of the Tudors at the moment and have no desire to read yet another book about Catherine Howard. I will find someone who is interested to read it.

At least one of the books looks good to you. I hope you enjoy it!
I’ve never been to a film festival, but I imagine you are having lots of fun. Enjoy your new book!
San Miguel looks good, nice to get something you really want!
The film festival sounds like fun! Hope you have a terrific time and enjoy your books!
I think T.C. Boyle is a wonderful writer too.
What do you think of Carolly Erickson as a writer?
I haven’t read anything by her. I received that book by the publisher but hadn’t requested it and wouldn’t have. As I said in the post, I was sick of the Tudors and still am. I didn’t even watch Wolf Hall on PBS.
I have read several of her non fiction works and her historical fiction works. Her non fiction history books are OK, but her historical works are something else. I read her serious work on Mary, Queen of Scots and then her fictional work on the same. In the fictional work she really made up stuff. She had Mary going to Rome to have an audience with the Pope. Now I know, it was a fictional account and could expect diversions from the truth, but that meeting with the Pope really took advantage of fictional licence. I recently had the chance to buy her fictional work, “The Tzarina’s Daughter” and hesitated, when I remembered her story about Mary.
I would love that Erickson novel as I am a Tudor fiend — I could pay for postage…Let me know. Cheers, Kara S
Oh this is ancient news. Whoops!
