Book Description:
After growing up in privilege and marrying into money, Lila Alders has gotten used to the good life. But when her happily-ever-after implodes, Lila must return to Black Dog Bay, the tiny seaside town where she grew up. She’s desperate for a safe haven, but everything has changed over the past ten years. Her family’s fortune is gone—and her mother is in total denial. It’s up to Lila to take care of everything…but she can barely take care of herself.
The former golden girl of Black Dog Bay struggles to reinvent herself by opening a vintage clothing boutique. But even as Lila finds new purpose for outdated dresses and tries to reunite with her ex, she realizes that sometimes it’s too late for old dreams. She’s lost everything she thought she needed but found something—someone—she desperately wants. A boy she hardly noticed has grown up into a man she can’t forget…and a second chance has never felt so much like first love.

This book sounds captivating. thanks.
This sounds like a lot of fun!
Chick lit isn’t my scene in general, but I still reviewed this feature (thanks Teddy Rose) before determining this particular book in’t the best fit for my interests. However, after I finished reading and deciding my own interest in the book a thought occurred to me about the title. Would it not be offensive if the gendered plural noun referred to women instead of men? I know that the book is titled with a light hand, but I’ve noticed there’s a fair amount of marketing of chick lit and romance fiction that involves objectification of men (even if this isn’t manifested in the real content of the book). I guess it’s a bit of a joke about women bearing the brunt of sexism. Still, whenever I see a book cover with a man half-naked or come across a title like this, which reduces human value even if temporarily to make a somewhat ironic joke, my opinion of that work sinks somewhat. I do not wish to ignite a debate; that’s not what this blog is about. I just offer my own reaction tonight as some food for thought. Cheers and good luck to all, Kara S
I am so mortified. I think I just cross-posted comments here and at Luxury Reading so as to humiliate myself in front of as many fellow readers as possible. I have lost my brains. I am going to go cry. Cheers, Kara S
I have been following this author for many titles, I always find each one quite enjoyable. Thanks for the chance to win!
I got a great chuckle out of the title. I think we’d both enjoy this clever book. Thanks.
