Congratulations indeed to all the winners. Speaking of publisher generosity, do you all know about the Shelf Awareness newsletter/website? http://www.shelf-awareness.com It features reviews, publishing industry news, and every week or so there’s at least 1 contest posted for an ARC of a new release. I’ve never won any there, and I assume there distribution is not exactly small.
Anyway, I mention it because of a delightful experience I had the other day when I got an email, which connected me to the publisher, but it purported to be sponsored through Shelf Awareness (so I figure that means it was *their* email list and not one of the various publisher promotion lists/sites being used to contact folks).
The email invited me to apply for an ARC of *If I Fail, If I Die* — a highly desirable book to me, and it would seem more or less everyone else. You’ve probably read or heard about it somewhere. I assumed it was a regular contest, but I filled out the form immediately as I was checking my email when this message was sent.
Instead of a contest it claimed I would receive a copy in the mail in 4-6 weeks (will believe fully when I see it 😉 — essentially it was a first-come, first-served giveaway. I think I’ve come across a couple of those, but never with the combination of email invitation access and such a highly coveted book prize (plus perfect timing on this occasion). I thought you all might care to know since there are so many giveaway aficionados like myself here 🙂 Oh, finally, they don’t spam your email! Cheers, Kara S
