Thanks to Liz Kelsch of Sourcebooks, I am giving away one copy of Objects of Her Affection.
Book Description:
“Sonya Cobb combines the rarified atmosphere of museum scholarship, illegal art trafficking, and the sticky desperation of young motherhood to craft a superbly written thriller.” – Karen Engelmann, author of The Stockholm Octavo
“A tautly plotted and elegantly written debut about the shame of secrets and the power of home. I held my breath with every twist and turn — and marveled over each effortlessly beautiful sentence.” – Kelly Simmons, author of Standing Still and The Bird House
Sophie Porter is the last person in the world you’d expect to organize an art heist—and that’s exactly why she’s so good at it. When Sophie bought a house with her husband, a curator for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, she thought it would provide security for her family. Instead, after the housing market collapse, they’re in danger of losing it all. So when she accidentally walks out of the museum’s disorganized storage area with a stunning antique, Sophie realizes she’s found a way out of their crushing debt. As she comes close to destroying the life she’s working so hard to build, Sophie knows she should abandon her part-time crime. Unfortunately, it may be too late.

This novel sounds intriguing. thanks.
This sounds really clever. An innocent mistake leads to a criminal career. I think we’d really enjoy this book, thanks.
Thank you for the giveaway. The book deals with a museum heist.I love museums and have often thought to be a museum curator is on my list of dream jobs.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about this one.
I am interested in the book because I like the character of Sophie and the secrets of the story.
I’ve tried to win this book on other sites based on the exciting plot, and it has thus far eluded me. But in reading this post of yours, I really keyed in to the blurb from Simmons. I am markedly more aware of Cobb’s literary prowess now, so that ups my desire for the book a very great deal. Also, the aforementioned blurb referred to one of the major themes of this work as “the shame of secrets.” I am fascinated by shame’s power over secret keeping and self-representation in general…Plus, I’d never even considered very deeply the shame of the hiding itself as being distinct from and an effect of the shame feelings that spur so much secret-keeping…What an enticing book! Thanks for this chance!
