GRAND CENTRAL: Original Stories of Postwar Love and Reunion is an anthology of short stories which all begin at New York’s Grand Central Terminal on the very same date, just after World War II ended by some of the biggest names in women’s fiction today. With inclusions from New York Times bestselling authors Karen White (The Time Between) and Melanie Benjamin (The Aviator’s Wife), and an introduction by #1 New York Times bestselling author Kristin Hannah, GRAND CENTRAL captures a delicate moment in time and a city filled with opportunity.
Last year’s 100th anniversary of Grand Central has kindled a new interest not just in the beautiful building itself but also in the millions of people that have passed through the cavernous hallways and turnstiles; along with their stories. This anthology shines a spotlight on a moment of great power and possibility when the war was over; and the world was about to be changed forever.
From a war bride who awaits the arrival of her GI husband at the platform, to a holocaust survivor who works at the Oyster Bar where a customer reminds him of his late mother, and a Hollywood hopeful who anticipates her first screen test and a chance at stardom in the Kissing Room, GRAND CENTRAL is full of stories that resonate with every reader. From the romantic to the historian, this beautifully written anthology transports the reader to a time long since gone by the very events that brought us to where we are today.

So many of these authors have written books I love.
I’ve read a number of novels by the authors who have contributed to this anthology so I am really excited to read these stories!
I love books from the WWII era. Thanks for the giveaway 🙂
Such a pivotal day in history at a hub of activity. These stories could go in a million different directions. Thanks
Several favorite authors and what a premise!
I enjoy stories of this timeframe, and I have read several of these authors. Thanks for the giveaway.
I would love to read this book because I find collections of accomplished authors that center on a genre or a more particular theme very interesting. It’s a unique opportunity to compare different writers directly to one another so as to better appreciate the particularities of their style (and content, for that matter). Thanks for another delightful opportunity to win a great book…Cheers, Kara
I love stories that have a patriotic feel (and not just because today is July 4th!), and I also like many of the authors.
What interests me is all of the different stories by so many authors. It sounds like a very special book. Thanks for having the giveaway.
I’m interested in this book because it sounds like a stunning book. How wonderful to be able to read these stories of love that all started at the same time and in the same place, in a time period that I’ve always felt more connected to than our current time period.
Wow, I really need to go out and buy this one, don’t I? I’m really intrigued by the anthology of work by such great authors and the particular subject matter they’re work will surround. I wish more writers in genres other than sci-fi, horror, fantasy, thrillers, etc. would tag-team on a common starting point for their work in anthologies of this kind more often…or maybe I just need to look harder for them…I guess this is just another angle on what I said in my original comment.
**More importantly, I wanted to comment on this to ask you, Teddy, which story or stories impressed/touched/pleased you the most? Setting the stories in this volume aside in your mind, do you/did you have a favorite author(s) of the great lineup here? I am quite curious. Cheers! –Kara
Oh Kara, I wish I could say however,I haven’t read it. I hope to some day! I just knew that my readers would be interested in ‘Grand Central’ and so I arranged the giveaway with the gracious permission of Berkley/NAL.
