January 2 – December 30, 2010
Last year we had a great turn out for this challenge and I have request to run it again for 2010.ย Since so many challenges start on January 1st and end on December 31st, I decided to change the date a little bit this year.ย However, if you post a review for January 1st, you are welcome to use it for this challenge.ย
I use the term “ARC” loosely, any book a publisher or author gives you with the expectation that you review it, counts for this challenge.
Please note that there are some changes, so please read the rules!ย
Here are the rules:
1. To sign up, leave a direct link to your blog post about this challenge that includes your list from rule #2, using Mr. Linky below.ย Please leave a comment as well.
2. List all of the ARC’s that you have to read right now. Then throughout the year, you must continue updating that list as you receive more ARC’s. (This is important). You should also strike out the ones that you finish.
3. The Levels
Level Bronze: .a. All of us who have or will have less than 12 ARC’s must read all of the ARC’s we have. Note, that if you have 11 ARC’s and then receive a 12th one you will be bumped up to catagory a.
b. All of us who have or will have more than 12 ARC’s must read and review 12.
Level Silver: Read 24 ARC’s
Level Gold: Read 25 or more ARC’s
4. You don’t have to make a list of which ARC’s you plan to read, but you can if you want.
If you choose a lower level, you can always change it to a higher level if you like.ย However, you cannot go from a higher level back down to a lower level.
5. Crossovers with other challenges are allowed and Audio-books are allowed as long as they are ARC’s.
6. Read the books and review them on your blog. If you don’t have a blog, you can post your review on sites like Powells, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc.
7. Please subscribe to my blog, as I will be doing a monthly post with MR Linky.ย Please add your reviews for each month in MR Linky in the monthly post.ย For your Name, please use this format Name: (Your Name, Book Title and Author’s Name) for example: (Teddy, Obsessive Reading by Helen Reader).ย Please be sure to use the direct link to your review, not just to your blog.ย Then please leave a comment.
8. Enjoy!

Hmm. I am going to have to contemplate this one. I keep on saying yes to ARCs that sound good but can’t actually fit them all in the reading schedule!
Wow, I’ve got a bigger list than I thought and I’m so far behind on reviews!!!
Q: some of my review books are final copies, do they count as ARC for the challenge? I added them to my list since they were sent to me for review and I figured that was what the challenge was about.
What is ARC?
I think I may have to join this one. I thought I picked them all for the beginning of 2010…LOL
Thanks so much
Marg, that is a good reason to join this challenge.
Book Dragon, I forgot to mention this on my post, thanks for asking. Yes final copies do count. If a publisher gave it to you to review, then it counts.
Veggiemom, an ARC is and advance reader copy they are also known as galley. I use the term “ARC” loosely for this challenge. Any book that you receive from a publisher for the pupose of review, counts.
Diane challenges are still popping up all over the blogisvere for 2010.
I’m definitely in for this one…and I’m shooting for 25 (just to get caught up!)
Great Wendy!
Oooh, this is perfect. I am starting out with the read 12 category – but it will probably go up to the 24 level as the year progresses.
Heather, I am so glad you are going to join us!
Thanks for hosting this Teddy!
Diane, I’m glad that you can join us!
Oops, I signed up on Mr. Linky twice! Sorry about that!
Rebecca, it looks like it sorted itself out. I’m glad you are joining us!
Thanks for hosting this! Wish I knew about it last year. I’m doing 5 challenges this year, but there will be lots of overlap, I know!
Elizabeth, Welcome to the challenge! I’m glad you found us!
I am going for bronze, man I forgot to add my blog name to my linky, oh well. Good luck all! This is such a good challenge thank you for hosting it.
Lizzy, welcome to the challenge. I’m glad you can join us.
I just signed up for your wonderful challenge. I am trying to get caught up with my reading in the new year so this is a perfect challenge for me. I am starting out with the Bronze level but may move up eventually. I’m looking forward to it!
Welcome to the challenge Beth. I’m glad that you can join us.
I don’t know how I missed this post Teddy but yes I’m joining in again this year. I’ll get my post up tonight. I’m so glad you’re hosting it again. Thanks!
I’m glad your joining us again this year Dar.
Yay! So glad you’re hosting it again ๐ I’m definitely in, and it’s my whole focus this year. I’ve got over 60 of them, and some I’ve had for almost 2 years. So this, the 75 book challenge and the off the shelf challenge are my 3 main ones, and I’m going to try to fit any others around these 3.
I haven’t posted it yet, but I’m definitely in ๐
I’m glad your going to join us again Koolaidmom! I read mostly ARC’s for 2009. The challenges that worked really well for me, besides the ARC challenge include:TBR Lite, RYOB, and New Authors. I am doing those again this year. Also, since the majority of what I read is historical fiction, those challenges work well with my ARCs. I usually get at least a few chunky books, so the Chunkster challenge also works for me.
Hi! This seems like such a fun challenge! I hope its okay that I just post the list of ARCs that I’ve read as we go along…I don’t have a list of ARCs that I currently have–they are just random throughout my bookshelf and would take forever to go through!
I want to do this one…. so tempted…I have piles of them…..
purplg8r, that’s fine. Welcome to the challenge.
Toni, I would love it if you joined us. It’s a great way to keep track of your ARCs and even get through some.
You can count me in. I’m starting with Bronze as I only have 7 ARCs on the pile so far and it depends how many more I receive this year.
I’ve posted to the Mr Linky.
How does one obtain ARCs?
Clare, Welcome to the challenge!
Becky, these articles from other book bloggers will help you get ARCs:

Also, be sure to have an email address in your profile of your blog. Publishers will contact you after you have been reviewing books for a while. Hope this helps.
I finally decided to join up again! Even though I want to keep the challenges down this year, I’m going to be reading ARCs anyway so I might as well join the fun!!
Nicola, I’m glad you decided to join us again this year!

I linked one of my reviews ๐ Superstress Solution
Haley, please link your review fior the month of January, here: http://teddyrose.blogspot.com/2010/01/january-reviews-for-arc-reading.html
I will do a post every month for this challenge and that is where we will all link our reviews.
Could have sworn I’d done my Linky, because I did my post back on Dec 29, but I just did my linky. I am bound and determined to get caught up on ARCs this year. And to be more selective so I don’t accept more than I can handle.
Now will go post my reviews (or links to them) on the January linky.
I joined! I know I am late. I hope that is okay. I put my link in.
No problem Tina.
I’m glad you joined Kathy. It’s not too late.
I know I’m extremely late in signing up, but please tell me that’s OK! I really, really need this challenge. I went ahead and posted my link on the Mr Linky page. Thanks so much for hosting!
JL, of course it’s okay! It’s never too late to sign up for this challenge. Welcome!
I posted a page with ALL current reading challenges. Let me know if you want me to add any other information to your challenge. I hope it brings even more readers to your challenge!
