I can’t say I have read much Latino literature that I know of. I’m certainly a fan of the magical realist movement started by the fellow who wrote One Hundred Years of Solitude, though, and find myself influenced as a writer by that genre as a result.

How bad is it that I can’t think of any Latino books (at least any I liked). I read the Cigar Roller for the Around the World in 80 Books club on the Oprah site, but I really disliked it. And I can’t think of anything else. Man. Lack of sleep is really affecting my brain!
Ond of my favorite reads from this year is The Seamstress written by Frances de Pontes Peebles. The book is set in Brazil in the 1930’s and is the most incredible debut novel. I highly recommend it.
