Chilling Mystery
Caroline is just like any other older sister. She doesn’t think that she should always have to look after her little sister Belle. Couldn’t she just disappear?
The year is 1956 and Caroline is given $3.00 to take Belle to the Calgary Summer Carnival. She must go on rides the Belle wants to go on and pick the pink cotton candy from her hair. Everything is about Belle.
At the end of the street, the girls saw ‘Grandpa’s Tymeless Fotos.’ This is where life changed Caroline’s life forever. As in Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, Caroline finds out what pictures can really do.
I enjoyed this short story immensely. Cheryl Kaye Tardif has the knack of making a suspenseful story sound believable.
Highly recommended!

Hmmm, I’ll have to look into this. Thanks!
Sounds intriguing but I am sure it would scare me too much.
Nice job.

Sure Joy!
It’s fairly gentle Gayla. No Blood. Just creepy.
Did you download it from Amazon?
Hi Teddy, I must dig into this one myself soon. I love the Amazon Shorts — digital downloads — just 49 cents and one-click ordering. Then it’s in your “media library” forever.
Nice review — I love Cheryl’s writing too.
Yes, Joy. Downloading from Amazon.com is the only way to get it. It’s only 49 cents.
I actually had to have someone from the US get it for me, because for some reason they don’t allow Canadians to get short stories. Strange, because they’ll take our money for everything else. LOL!
Thanks Linda! I know you will enjoy this one!
I just finished Cheryl Kaye Tardif’s “Whale Song” last week and really enjoyed it. Do you suppose Amazon.ca will offer “shorts” one day?
I wish I knew Wanda. It’s so silly that Canadians can purchase just about eveything else on Amazon.com but shorts and that their not available on Amazon.ca.
If you really want to read it, email me at teddyr66 (at) yahoo (dot) com.
Thanks, Teddy Rose. I’m going to do that.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Teddy. Nice review.
I need a good mystery every once in awhile. Will write this down on my TBR pile 😉 Thanks Teddy!
Thanks Paul! I’m so glad you brought my attention to this one!
Anytime Yan!
Hi Teddy:
Your blog came up on my Google Alerts and imagine my surprise to hear you all talking about my Amazon Short ‘Picture Perfect’. 🙂
I’ll admit, it has always been one of my favorite short stories, and you’re right, it IS creepy. At least, that’s what I wanted people to think and feel.
I’ll tell you how it came about…
My mother moved in with us after my parents divorced and she was sorting through a box of old photographs. One caught my eye.
In it my mother and her 2 sisters were dressed up in western gear, like the ladies in Bonanza or Gunsmoke (for those who remember those TV shows). The photo was black and white but really had a brown tinge to it, giving it that old time photography feel.
Immediately I had this idea of 2 sisters–Caroline and Belle, one plain, one beautiful. And I knew that their photo was going to have dire consequences.
If any of your blog readers would like to read Picture Perfect, feel free to send them the PDF, or they can contact me directly for it. I have no problem with giving people a sample of my writing, and I know I won’t make big bucks from the Short. 🙂

Also, if you check out Textnovel.com and look in the Editor’s Picks box at bottom right, you’ll see my novelette REMOTE CONTROL. I am adding a chapter a day until it’s completed.
If you like Picture Perfect, I think you’ll enjoy Remote Control. It’s free to sign up, read and vote (click on the thumbs up at top) on Textnovel.com.
All the best to you all! Hope you don’t mind me coming into your nice little group here. I am especially happy to hear that some of you have read Whale Song–my “heart book”.

Thanks so much for stopping by Cheryl! I’m glad you liked my review.
I enjoyed your explaination of how it came about. I hate to admit it, but I do remember those TV shows. LOL!
Thanks for the permission to share your story. Some of my readers including myself, live in Canada. Amazon.com will not allow Candians to purchase the shorts, yet we can purchase just about everything else from them. LOL! As you know, shorts aren’t on Amazon.ca. I was lucky enough to get your story through a friend who got it from a friend from the U.S.
I will be sure to check out Textnovel.com.
BTW it’s no intrusion, I love it when authors come over and visit!
Thank you for introducing me to good Canadian works, by authors, that are unknown to me.
