Thanks to Liz Mensching of Bohlsen Group, I am giving away 5 copies of The Eighth Wonder.
Book Description:
Kimberly Young was homebound for almost five months on doctor’s orders before being released from medical rest. The first place she went? A bridge.
Built in 1882, the Kinzua Bridge in Pennsylvania was once dubbed the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World,’ and once held the record for the tallest and longest railroad bridge in the world. This historic landmark is also the setting of Young’s new novel, The Eighth Wonder. Incredibly, Young wrote her debut novel without ever having seen the bridge in person.
“I was homebound while writing my novel, and I needed a place for the characters to meet, but I wasn’t familiar with the region,” Young said. “I looked up landmarks and discovered The Kinzua Bridge.”
Young, a psychologist and renowned Internet addiction specialist, likens her story to a modern- day Bridges of Madison County, and admits there are many similarities between herself and the story’s protagonist.
“Like Nicole, I relocated to Pennsylvania to take care of my dying father,” Young said. “Nicole’s fictitious profession is similar to my day job as well, so the beginning of the novel is very true to my own life story.”
With significant connections to Young’s personal and professional lives, and with historical significance to the Pennsylvania region, The Eighth Wonder portrays a delicate balance of romance and a life-changing affair that leads to a bittersweet ending.
