Description King Ron of the Triceratops by S. S. Paulson

A T-Rex, king of the Triceratops? As a Tyrannosaurus egg, Ron rolled into a Triceratops nest. He grew up calling Little T his brother and became king of the Triceratops with the promise: “Trixies first!” When things go sour in this dinosaur fable, Little T has to decide where his loyalty lies.

Atmospheric illustrations and building tension capped off by action make King Ron of the Triceratops accessible to children considerably younger than its nominal grade level. A first-grader reading above his grade level can tackle the book (pegged at grade four) on his own. King Ron of the Triceratops includes a little explanatory ditty for those who like their parables and fables explained. The song notation includes chords for an accompanist.

About S. S. Paulson

S.S. Paulson grew up in Switzerland a bilingual dual national. His American mother fed his appetite for reading with classics from Dr. Seuss to Harper Lee. His first real success as a writer was making his middle school classmates laugh at a story about a radiooactive hamster. (That topic being funny back then just goes to show how old he is.)

That set the tone. Paulson continues to make humor an integral part of his stories, ranging from the wry and dry to laugh-out-loud physical comedy. King Ron of the Triceratops is his first published picture book and combines that humor with action and some serious themes.

S.S. Paulson is a member of the Swiss SCBWI chapter. He has yet to quit his day job at the steel mill and lives not far from the mill with his wife and four kids.
